A Short Getaway to Ipoh, Perak - The Haven
The kids had a week off from school on the last week of March. As usual, we will Cuti-Cuti Malaysia for a short break like this. I tried to book for a trip to Redang Island, unfortunately I was late that most resorts had been fully booked by the time I enquired. After a few days of thinking hard on where to bring the kids, I suddenly thought of The Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh. I quickly checked if there were rooms still available, as I predicted, all rooms were sold out. However, I then stumbled upon this new condotel (condominium-hotel) in Ipoh, which is a secret gem - The Haven Ipoh.
I fell in love with this new condotel by just looking at the pictures. It's a new condotel, hence the reviews were not perfect on its operations. Location, environment and cleanliness wise, it scores almost perfect. Without hesitating, I booked for 2 nights stay via booking.com. The condotel's own website had technical error, which did not allow me to make reservation directly and I was too lazy to call. :)
We arrived the condotel around 4pm. The security guard escorted us to the temporary lobby. We were warmly greeted by all their staff. Checking-in was fast, we were led to our 2 rooms suite which is facing the car park, a walk-up apartment and some mountains from afar. I wanted my lake view cum infinity pool as I saw on the internet. I quickly called the reception staff to check if we could upgrade to a unit with lake and pool view, for a fee. Elena, who answered the phone informed me that only the 3 rooms units are facing the lake and pool. She asked if I would like to upgrade for a small fee. I agreed but I asked if she could offer us complimentary breakfast since the website did not specify this and I was expecting all units to have lake and pool view. She did not waste time checking but agreed immediately to my request. She sent her colleague from the concierge counter within 10 minutes to help us with the transfer.
Our new unit was PERFECT. We could not fault a thing. It was spotless clean, very spacious and brand new. What took our breath away were the views!!! See for yourself... :)
The pool was great. It was huge and was divided into a few sections like children pool with small water slide, infinity pool with jacuzzi and heated pool with jacuzzi. Soaking in the jacuzzi pool while looking up to the green mountains and blue sky was a breeze. It threw all our pressures and worries FAR behind. We enjoyed the pool so much.
The condotel served continental breakfast on weekdays, which we rated as excellent. It has fruit juice,fruits, toasted bread with jam/butter, beef slices, sausages, red beans and stirred fried mushrooms. It was so sumptuous that it kept us going all day.
We enjoyed our stay very much that we did not want to leave. :P We will definitely be back here again. :)
