A Short Getaway to Ipoh, Perak - Nan Tian Tong

Nan Tian Tong Taoist Temple (Cave of the Southern Sky) is located in between Sam Poh Tong Cave and Ling Sen Tong Cave.  Legend says it was discovered by a Chinese Taoist priest named Kuong San Teik back in 1867 which means this temple has a long history of more than 120 years old.

The reason we visited Nan Tian Tong and not the other 2 caves (temples) was simply because the other 2 temples closed earlier at 4pm. We arrived at 4pm and Nan Tian Tong was the only one which was still open.  It opens until 6pm daily.

It was a good experience for us to visit the temple which is set in a cave.  The whole place is simply amazing, especially on the layered structures and narrow winding staircase to explore the cave further and deeper.

If you are bringing very young children, it's best to carry them in a carrier or hold them tight, next to you, as there are many statues in the temple and certain areas are quite dark which very young children may feel a little uncomfortable. Overall, it was a great experience for the kids.  Bigger kids will enjoy 'treasure hunting' and 'cave exploring'.  :)
